Binge Eating Disorder (BED)
Binge Eating Disorder is characterized by regularly consuming large amounts of food, much larger than one should during a single meal or snack. Individuals suffering from Binge Eating Disorder consume excessive amounts of food, often in private, but do not follow up with a compensatory behavior such as purging or laxative abuse.
Symptoms and Behaviors Related to Binge Eating Disorder:
- Frequent over-eating that feels out of control
- Remorse about amount of food eaten
- Eating in response to an emotional stressor
- Eating rapidly
- Eating alone
- Disgust with self after binge episode
- History of dieting or failed attempts at dieting
